Tune Writing Boot Camp is a 4-week intensive course dedicated to studying the craft of writing instrumental music. If you enjoy playing instrumental music (“tunes”), coming up with melodies, and sharing music with others, this class is for you!

We will cover topics including melody generation practices, structure analysis of common tunes, common tune archetypes, and abstract places to look for musical inspiration. Each lesson is paired with a tune-writing assignment, so students will end up writing at least four tunes within the span of this month-long course.

All instrumentalists can join this ensemble. You do not need any previous tune-writing experience. While this class stylistically leans bluegrass/bluegrass-adjacent, all musical styles are welcome.
