CCM Listening Project

There are many skills that you develop as a musician here at the Concord Conservatory of Music, and it’s our objective to make sure that we provide you with the tools you will need to be successful. As part of your Musician’s Toolbox, it is important to include the ability to listen and to be exposed to a wide variety of music. Southern Rail’s performances are high-energy exuberant fun, with riveting harmonies, irrepressible humor and sparkling banjo, mandolin, and guitar solo work. Southern Rail celebrates more than four decades of performing together. CCM faculty member Rich Stillman (banjo and harmony vocals, Jim Muller (guitar and lead vocals), Sharon Horovitch (acoustic bass and harmony vocals), and John Tibert (mandolin and harmony vocals) give us rich vocals on beautiful and creative bluegrass arrangements.

We've designed a weeklong piano summer camp with our students in mind—a special opportunity to focus on piano and musicianship skills, while meeting and playing with kids who share the same musical interests! For Rising 3rd - 12th graders. CCM Summer Piano Camp gives kids a perfect dose of music, outdoor fun, and socialization.

Music & Water, Concert and Lecture

Friday, March 3, 7:30 pm

Join us on a dynamic and inspiring musical journey from the immersive to the delightful as CCM faculty performers present works by Debussy, Takemitsu, Burtner, and Schubert, which illustrate water in all of its miraculous forms. Guest speaker Alison Field-Juma, of OARS will discuss the far-reaching role of life’s most precious commodity, water, in our beloved local watersheds and the organization's work to preserve it. This informative program, in collaboration with OARS and the River Stewardship Council, is for anyone who loves music, and loves the outdoors, CCM faculty performers: Nicole Parks on violin, Susan Gottschalk on viola, Stephen Marotto on cello, Yoko Hagino on piano and Justin Meyer on bass.

Tones of Fun Developmental Music Class

Winter session starts January 18, 2023

For kids ages 3 - 6 and 7 - 10 with developmental needs, this class will help children flourish. Deeply committed to providing educational opportunities for all learners, CCM has contracted with the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts to bring Tones of Fun Developmental Music Class to our community.

The workshops will be age-appropriate for both our youth and adult students as well as parents and will include offerings in musical storytelling, improvisation, arranging, music and movement, and more. Meet
Angel Valchinov

In music lessons, Strings Department Chair Angel Valchinov gives his “focus and dedication to the smallest detail at every age.” He brings care, understanding, and a sense of humor into lessons so students can progress with confidence. Angel believes in revealing the highest potential in each student. Building each one to be a self-sufficient musician and a human being is his daily goal.
