CCM’s Guitar & Mandolin Study Group is a flexible, intermediate-level workshop where flatpickers can hone their instrumental technique and expand their musical toolbox alongside folks with similar goals. Sessions will focus on right-hand exercises, nuanced rhythm playing, improvisation, and ear training to connect what we hear with what we play.

This course is rooted in music from American and Celtic folk styles. Flatpick only, as this course will not focus on fingerstyle.

Participants should have familiarity with the following:

  • Easily naming notes and playing basic scales on the fretboard
  • Common chords and basic strumming patterns
  • A handful of tunes of any style that can be played from memory
