“The only thing better than singing is more singing”
-Ella Fitzgerald
Bluegrass Harmony Singing is a 10-week course dedicated to deepening our understanding of harmony singing, growing our repertoire, and most importantly getting to practice singing with other folks in a supportive environment. We will cover basic vocal techniques, including warming up our voice, vocal exercises, and ear training, as well as discuss creative ways to practice harmony singing.
Since we’ll focus on bluegrass jamming, we welcome all acoustic instrumentalists in addition to vocalists. Here’s your opportunity to connect with folks in the Concord-area’s growing roots music community!
The class meets immediately before the weekly Concord Open Bluegrass Jam (Thursdays at 7:30 pm), students are encouraged to stick around and participate!
Let’s Pick is a three-part series – Intro to Bluegrass Jamming, Bluegrass Solo Workshop, and Bluegrass Harmony Singing.
Pre-requisites: Previous experience singing helpful, but not required. Students bringing instruments should be familiar with basic open chords, bluegrass grooves, and have a handful of songs under their fingers.
Students will need a notebook and are encouraged to bring recording device—the one on your phone works great! Guitar, banjo and dobro players will need a capo.
