Giuseppe Paradiso is a drummer, recording artist, and composer who has a versatile approach to music across jazz, world music, improvisation, and more. Originally from Italy, his musical journey began at age four with his mom’s kitchen pots and pans after he saw a drum set for the first time. This early passion led him to study music across continents and make it his life’s passion and profession.
Giuseppe graduated with honors from the Conservatorio N. Piccinni in Bari, Italy, and later earned a magna cum laude degree in drum set performance from Berklee College of Music as a scholarship recipient. He is the bandleader of Meridian 71, a world-jazz project, and is a sought-after freelance musician. His three albums, including Parallel Dimensions, which was supported by a Live Arts Boston grant, have been critically acclaimed and featured on international platforms like NPR.
He has performed and recorded with a wide range of artists, including Latin Grammy-Award winner Javier Limón and Grammy-Award percussionist Arto Tuncboyaciyan. His performances have taken him to major international venues, including the Newport Jazz Festival, the Panama Jazz Festival, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. From 2013 to 2015, he co-led the In Momentum Concert Series in Cambridge, MA, which fostered a community centered on free improvisation and creative music.
As an educator with over 20 years of experience, his teaching philosophy focuses on helping students achieve quick results with focused and organized programs while enjoying the process. He believes in building strong foundations and uses fun, creative methods to help students play their first drum beat in their very first lesson. He hopes to inspire his students in their musical and life journey, believing that music is a powerful tool that goes well beyond the notes on the page.
What excites him most about teaching at CCM is being part of a wonderful community with great and diverse music offerings. He looks forward to working with students, inspiring them, and fostering the love and importance of music and creativity in our lives.
Giuseppe has received numerous honors and grants, including the Opportunity Fund from the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture in Boston and the James David Harber Award from Berklee College of Music. From 2021 to 2024, he was a voting member of the Grammy-Awards at The Recording Academy. Outside of CCM, he began teaching privately in Italy in his early twenties and has since taught at various music schools and workshops in the U.S. and Europe.
