Chords and Symbols with Ballade in D Minor by Brahms Workshop

In this workshop, you will bridge the gap between jazz and classical chords by transcribing an excerpt from the Brahms Ballade in D minor. You will also examine what to do when you are overwhelmed by so many symbols on the page.

You will discuss how to use those symbols to create a flowing succession of chords or phrases, and whether to play the chords and phrases aggressively, delicately, or whether to apply rubato.

In this workshop, you will also bridge the gaps between Music Theory, expressive musical interpretation, and music history.

Meet CCM faculty member Kitty Cheung-Evans in South Hall East.
