Compose the Action! Film Music Composition Workshop

Ever wonder how a movie score builds heart-pounding suspense or pulls at your heartstrings? Step into the composer’s chair and discover the secrets behind cinematic sound!

Guided by composer and CCM faculty member Manuel García-Baró, students will explore how music creates emotion, drama, and atmosphere in visual media. Through a collaborative group project, participants will get hands-on experience scoring a real movie scene — taking a soundtrack from initial concept to completion. It’s an exciting, practical look into the art and creative process of professional film scoring.

• Who Should Attend: Curious young musicians ages 10–18 interested in music composition, storytelling, or film scoring.
• Prerequisite: Open to all music students interested in creative composition.
