Who Should Apply 

The Assistantship is open to music students ages 13-18. 

These assistant positions provide an immersive and hands-on opportunity for intermediate and advanced music students, age 13-18. Prospective candidates should possess a deep passion for music, a keen interest in inspiring others through music, and a strong desire to acquire mentorship skills under the guidance of experienced instructors in a supportive environment. 

Learning Outcome 

Through assisting CCM instructors, Assistants will learn how to teach and mentor young students and how to foster a positive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment. Assistants will also have an opportunity to perform a short piece in the Friday Showcase. 

Assistants will develop excellence in communication, teamwork, compassion, patience, and function as a role model for young music students. They must uphold positive working relationships with students and instructors, adhering to instructions from the program coordinator, their assigned instructors, and the policies and procedures of Concord Conservatory of Music. 

Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Assisting students and instructors during workshops 
  • Actively engaging with students during break, lunch, and activities time 
  • Other duties as assigned, such as assisting with workshop materials, copying, etc. 

Additional Information 

Assistants should expect to keep regular communication open with the program coordinator and instructors throughout the program week, as well as correspondence in the weeks leading up to the program. 

  • How to apply

    1. Prepare a written personal statement, 2-3 paragraphs in length, that describes who you are, your musical background, and why you are interested in becoming an Assistant for Instrument Play. 
    2. Complete this Signup form by May 1st.  

    Applications after the deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
