Have you been curious about chamber music?

Students ages 10 to adult can now try it out with CCM’s Chamber Music Samplers. These free sessions offer a fun, hands-on opportunity to sample the excitement of making music in small, collaborative ensembles, guided by expert CCM faculty coaches.

You will be sent excerpts or pieces to prepare in advance and will have the chance to sight-read new
pieces during the session. If the group is a great fit, students will have the option to register and continue meeting weekly as a chamber ensemble.

CCM’s Youth Chamber Ensemble and Adult Chamber Ensemble programs help students develop listening and communication skills, explore fresh repertoire, and build confidence–all while enjoying the camaraderie of playing with others.

Being part of a chamber group will spark a passion for music, encourage collaboration, and foster artistic growth. Don’t miss out!

To participate in chamber music, students should have studied their instrument privately for at least 3 years and have a minimum of the following skills:

String players 

  • Play through third position on violin and viola, and through fourth position on cello
  • Sight read simple time signatures (4/4, 3/4, etc.) and in key signatures up to two sharps and flats

Pianists 

  • Play chords and two-octave scales and arpeggios in key signatures up to two sharps and flats
  • Sight read with both hands in simple time signatures (4/4, 3/4, etc.) in key signatures with up to two sharps and flats 

Woodwinds and Brass

  • Play two-octave scales and arpeggios (or within the range of the instrument) in key signatures up to two sharps and flats

  • Sight read simple time signatures (4/4, 3/4, etc.) and in key signatures up to two sharps and flats
