Ages 13–18 | 6-Week Class

Every young musician has a unique sound waiting to be unlocked. Whether you write songs, play an instrument, or experiment with digital beats, develop your ideas into a complete original track—with guidance from composer and producer Manuel Garcia-Baro.

Under the expert guidance, you’ll learn how to bring your personal musical vision to life. Manuel works directly with each student’s individual skill level and musical taste: helping you arrange your ideas, navigate creative blocks, layer instrumentation, and refine your overall sound.

Working alongside other creative teens in a supportive studio environment, you’ll finish the 6-week session with a 2-to-3-minute original audio track ready to play for friends, family, or share online.

What You’ll Do & Create:

• Shape Your Creative Vision: Turn short melodies, chord progressions, or beat ideas into fully structured songs with distinct sections.
• Refine Your Sound: Receive individual feedback from Manuel to learn how editing, instrument choices, and mixing techniques elevate your music.
• Collaborate & Share: Exchange feedback with fellow teen creators and walk away with a finished digital audio file (MP3/WAV) of your original project.

Class Details & Prerequisites:

• Prerequisites: Designed for teens with basic music familiarity (e.g., understanding simple rhythms, chords, or scales from instrumental lessons or school music programs). No prior software experience required.
• The Lab & Tools: Held in CCM’s Media Lab using individual Mac workstations equipped with Logic Pro and GarageBand. All equipment provided by CCM.
