The 10-week “Introduction to Music Creation” class offers a fun, engaging, and collaborative environment in our new Media Lab. Students will explore the exciting world of music production using GarageBand, a user-friendly digital audio workstation. This course is designed to introduce beginners to the basics of writing, recording, and mixing music, fostering creativity and teamwork throughout the process.

Participants will learn how to build a track from scratch, experiment with various production techniques, and develop their own musical ideas in a supportive setting. The class encourages fun exploration and collaboration as students work together on projects, sharing ideas and inspiring each other. By the end of the course, students will have developed a foundational understanding of music creation and will have completed a finished piece to showcase their new skills.

This introductory class will be a prerequisite for many of the subsequent Media Lab offerings.  Future class offerings and workshops will include: a Music Production sequence, Songwriting, Composition sequence, and Film Scoring.  Check back as we roll out the full Media Lab curriculum and come sample a workshop over the semester.
