Margaret Romero - Concord Conservatory of Music

Margaret Romero is passionate about the effect music education has on a student. Many of the skills needed to develop as a musician are applicable in other areas of life, and Margaret feels strongly about helping her students develop those skills through music lessons and performance opportunities. She explains, “My focus has always been on teaching a great foundation to my students while also leading them to be able to identify ways in which they can improve. Students who are able to identify mistakes or course correct on shaping a phrase, for example, make progress every single time they practice rather than just during a lesson. They can influence their own progress.”

Margaret is an active performer in local bands and orchestras. One of her favorite performance memories is soloing with the University of Wisconsin Marching Band during their spring concerts in front of thousands of people.

Margaret earned her undergraduate degree in Trumpet Performance and certificate in Business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has taught a wide range of subjects, from beginning theory for kids to undergraduate education, from community lectures to band instruction.

When she is not teaching or performing, Margaret loves spending time with her family and being active – running, swimming, anything outdoors.
