Janice Lu

Janice sets personalized goals for her students to build confidence and encourage growth. She tailors her teaching methods to each student’s strengths, needs, and aspirations. While ensuring a solid technical foundation, she emphasizes artistic expression, guiding students to explore their emotional responses to music and different interpretations. Ultimately, Janice aims to inspire a lifelong love for music, encouraging students to express their creativity and emotions and connect deeply with the repertoire they study. Her goal is to help them become passionate and expressive artists.

Janice is a skilled and passionate piano instructor with extensive experience in both teaching and collaborative roles. She has been a piano faculty member at the Community Music Center of Boston since 2023 and has been teaching at Cambridge Piano Lessons since 2021.

Before these positions, Janice served as a piano faculty member for non-piano majors at the Yale School of Music from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, she worked as a staff pianist at California State University Fullerton from 2015 to 2018.

Janice’s educational background is equally notable. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in piano performance at the New England Conservatory. She holds a Master of Musical Arts (MMA) and a Master of Music (MM) in piano performance from the Yale School of Music, earned between 2018 and 2021. She completed her Bachelor of Music (BM) in piano performance at California State University Fullerton in 2018.

In her spare time, Janice loves cooking Taiwanese dishes, walking around the city, and working out.
