Violin

A passionate musician and dedicated educator, Xiao Fu began her journey with the violin at the age of five after being captivated by the instrument’s sound on television. Since then, the violin has been a central and transformative part of her life, and she is deeply appreciative of the teachers and mentors who have inspired her along the way.

Xiao holds both a master’s degree and an Artist Diploma from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her professional career includes a distinguished 14-year tenure as a principal violinist with the Louisiana Philharmonic and Opera, where she was a featured soloist multiple times and led the orchestra in its Carnegie Hall debut in 2018. Her extensive experience spans various musical settings, including chamber music, orchestras, and opera, and she has also recorded film music with her colleagues. Beyond her performance career, Xiao is an experienced teacher, having instructed students both privately and in community schools, and has served as a juror for state youth competitions.

As an instructor, Xiao believes the violin is a powerful medium for understanding art, culture, and human emotions. She is committed to helping her students not only master technical skills but also develop their ability to listen, understand, and express their own creative potential. She provides a safe and supportive environment for students to achieve their goals, whether it’s through auditions and competitions or simply for the pure enjoyment of playing.

Xiao is thrilled to be joining the Concord Conservatory of Music community and is especially excited to work with the West Side Strings program. She is looking forward to helping her students develop a range of skills, from creativity and discipline to flexibility and cooperation, and believes each participant will see significant improvement by the end of the academic year.
