About the Artist
Ethan Baxter is a Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Associate Dean for the STEM Disciplines at Boston College. His isotope geochemical research uses the composition of rocks and minerals to reconstruct Earth’s past, understand its present, and plan for the future. His work has taken him and his students to such locations as the Greek Islands, the Alps, Scotland, Iceland, and Norway. As a 1991 CCHS graduate, he earned his BS at Yale University, his PhD at UC Berkeley, and completed a postdoc at Caltech. He was the 2007 Clarke Medalist of the Geochemical Society and is a Fellow of the Mineralogical Society of America. A passionate science communicator, he has given over 100 invited lectures at institutions around the world. He is the host and creator of Every Rock Has A Story, an educational YouTube Channel for children and anyone who finds joy in the wonders of the Earth.
