In music lessons, Strings Department Chair Angel Valchinov gives his “focus and dedication to the smallest detail at every age.” He brings care, understanding, and a sense of humor into lessons so students can progress with confidence. Angel believes in revealing the highest potential in each student. Building each one to be a self-sufficient musician and a human being is his daily goal.
Performing with orchestras in the U.S. and Europe, Angel is a soloist with a wide ranging repertoire. An avid recitalist and chamber musician, some of his recent performance highlights include performance of H. W. Ernst’s Six Polyphonic Etudes, and a concert with the Turtle Island Quartet in Boston’s Jordan Hall.
In the summer, Angel teaches at the Atlantic Music Festival at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and at the Youth & Muse Music Festival in Boston. He also teaches at Northern Essex Community College and Bunker Hill Community College. Bulgarian television has made a documentary about him, and he has been featured on a number of television stations across the U.S.
A third generation musician, Angel regularly performs with his family and his wife, violist and pianist Dr. Chen Lin. And he loves “playing music, sports, or anything else at all, with [his] son and daughter!”
