Jazz Combos

Jazz ensembles are available to students currently taking private instrument lessons at CCM and outside of the school. Ensembles offer students a wonderful way to learn and collaborate with peers and experience the joy of making music together. Students of similar age and abilities are grouped together to form trios, quartets, and/or quintets. Jazz ensembles consist of three to five similar or mixed instruments including strings, woodwinds, piano, and guitar. Students will be coached weekly throughout the semester.

Private Lessons

Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced musician looking to take your playing to another level, private lessons provide the opportunity to get the personal attention that is beneficial to your growth as a musician.

Composition

Composition is the opportunity for the student to use their imagination and develop the capacity to express their emotions with music. Composition lessons provide the young composer with the tools needed to translate their creative musical thoughts into written, notated music. Through writing for several different instruments, the students will learn about form, harmony, and counterpoint, as well as critically analyze masterworks by the great composers. Each student will compose a minimum of three pieces a year, and each of these pieces will get performed at a CCM recital by CCM faculty.

The Musician's Toolbox: Basics of Music Theory

Is your child learning an instrument and you'd like them to learn more efficiently? The Musician’s Toolbox is a four-week, multi-level theory workshop here to do just that! Why is music theory thought of as hard to learn and only for serious musicians? When taught the right way, it is simple and enjoyable. Here at CCM, music theory is considered an integral part of the study of music.
