Eric Mrugala’s teaching style is conversational and engaging. “In lessons, I make sure that each student has a voice and I make it a priority for students to feel comfortable enough to ask questions, or ask for help. When the rapport is created, I encourage my students to practice consistently for a given amount of time each day to help them reach their goals. Students practice out of the Suzuki book which helps them reach their goals in a methodical and intuitive way. Students who work with me will also learn how to read music, learn interesting facts about the violin, and learn how to play the violin well with proper technique.”
Eric appears with New England ensembles such as the Berkshire Symphony, Bennington Chorale, Keene Chorale, and Cape Ann Symphony. Mrugala has made appearances in Boston Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, Royal Concertgebouw Hall, De Doulen Hall, and many others.
Outside of his teaching and performance engagements, Eric is dedicated to making the arts more accessible to everyone. As the creator and host of the Everyday Musician Podcast, he talks to local musicians doing amazing things in their communities. He’s also the creator and host of the Violin Podcast where he invites violinists from around the world to discuss practice tips, music career advice, and how the violin has shaped their life.
Eric received his Bachelor’s Degree at the Boston Conservatory, and completed his Master’s degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a Graduate Quartet Fellow, and is a recipient of the Julian Olevsky Violin/Viola Memorial Award. Eric’s teachers include Edyta Mrugala, Rictor Noren, and Elizabeth Chang.
When he’s not thinking about the violin, Eric loves to be outdoors with family, especially hiking and golf..
