West Side String Program

Introducing The West Side Strings Program!  The Concord Conservatory of Music’s West Side String Program (WSSP) is a blend of Suzuki philosophy and traditional string pedagogy. Shinichi Suzuki’s philosophy embraces the idea that all children are born with a musical ability that can be nurtured at an early age through their environment, listening, imitation, and by working closely with a parent at home.

The traditional string pedagogy enhances these approaches by incorporating the development of technique and musicianship through scales, etudes, music reading, and a variety of repertoire. Our faculty members bring their own experiences to the program as they work together in creating a solid foundation and inspiring environment for our young string players. This approach assures teaching tailored to the needs of the individual student, with a strong emphasis on building confident solo performing, fluent music reading, and skillful ensemble participation.  Students will study a range of music in this program. Welcome Greta Feeney & Tudor Dornescu

Greta Feeney

CCM is pleased to welcome teacher, opera singer and recitalist Greta Feeney to our voice faculty. She will be teaching private voice lessons and the group classes Young Vocals and Vocal Repertoire: The Audition Toolbox.

She brings a deep sense of empathy and humor to the studio experience. Greta says, “A light heart makes for a happy voice, and even the most serious of subjects benefits from a varied, playful approach to work that keeps students going back to the practice room of their own volition, again and again. I also am still active as a performer, and I share my real-life experiences with my students. Many of them attend my concerts, which makes me very, very happy.”

We look forward to hearing her sing at CCM this fall at our Faculty Concert, Friday, November 9th, Mozart and the Masters of the Baroque. Read more about Greta>>

Tudor Dornescu

CCM is pleased to welcome violinist Tudor Dornescu to our strings faculty. Tudor will be teaching private violin lessons and will be leading the groups of our new West Side String Program.

Romanian-born violinist Tudor Dornescu believes patience and kindness help his students learn the violin. He focuses on their individual needs and aspirations so that they can achieve their full potential as musicians. Get to know Tudor, and read more>>
